Dear users,
HEAR, HEAR! Lunar Linux 1.6.4-beta1 codename 'Lacus Autumni' just became available, so grab it while it's hot!
We encourage everyone to give the latest ISO a test spin, your feedback is invaluable to us. With your help we will make Lunar even better!
We know it has been a long wait for a new ISO to become available that fixes all the problems using the old ISO's, so wait no further! The 1.6.4 stable release is
just around the corner and we hope it will please everyone. As mentioned in our previous announcement XOrg and Xfce4 had to be removed from the ISO, as it was just not
worth the effort to maintain them. Instead we can put that effort into further improving our installer and ISO quality.
New features in 1.6.4
- Working software raid configuration
- Improved language selection
- Installation from a USB stick or other media
- Ships with kernel 2.6.27!
- ReiserFS, XFS and JFS are now also built-in with the precompiled kernels

Dear users,
We are happy to announce that Lunar Linux 1.6.4 is coming closer to a release, 1.6.4-alpha3 codename 'Lacus Autumni' is available for testing.
It has been a long wait, but finally a new release is in the works that will correct all the issues installing Lunar using the old ISO's. We have also decided to remove XOrg and XFCE that was available on the 1.6.2-beta2 release to shrink the ISO size a bit.
Summary of changes:
- Fixes for the RAID MD configuration.
- Improved language menu selection.
- Installation from a USB stick or another media (more information about this later).
- Grub fixes.
- Other minor bugs.

As some may have noticed, we've added some translation icons to the website. Right now, they don't do a lot since not much of the website is actually translated, but we will get to them as we can.
If you are able to do translations and you would like to contribute an article translation (or even menu items), we will certainly be interested in them. You can either send them via email directly to me at

Since our ISO is pretty outdated right now (work has begun on a new release, yet, there is no release date in sight. Its going to be ready 'when its done' (tm)) it does require a special kind of way to install it properly. This guide is ment to help you through the pain.

We have just migrated our website to Joomla! 1.5.x as some people may have already noticed. The update went fairly smoothly, but we have lost some functionality that was provided by 3rd party modules; namely Polls and Comments.
Polls do exist in some rudimentary form in Joomla!, however we replaced them before because they were not nearly as flexible as the addon we found. As for comments, I'm not sure if they exist in 1.5.x or not. I will look for a suitable replacement if they do not exist.
If any hiccups are noticed on the site, please let us know via the mailing lists or via IRC. Thanks!

Hi,
We're happy to announce the first beta release of a new series of lunar-linux
installer ISO's. Our new ISO's will be as easy to install as 1.6.1, but pack an extra punch: This series of ISO's preinstalls a basic Xfce4-4.4.1 desktop with XOrg-7.2, together with firefox, Thunderbird, pidgin, audacious, gimp and a few other basic desktop utilities.
We hope to make it easy for everyone to both enjoy playing and learning from a true source distro environment and both be productive quickly. The extra applications will give new users a fast start and should install easily on most (even brand new) hardware with the 2.6.22.1 kernel, but also give the user a welcome feeling on a freshly installed lunar-linux system.
